John Dorsch

As a teenager, using pennies to slow down my vinyl records to try and get "that sound" on my Les Paul, lead me to Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Rush, The Beatles etc.  Fast forward after 45 years of electric / acoustic guitar and drum playing, my passion for music has expanded to include Fingerstyle guitar.  Inspired by mentor Tommy Emmanuel, exposure to Jerry Reed and Merle Travis, the challenge of moving strings to a different sound is exhilarating!

After decades of playing lead electric guitar in local bands, I shifted gears and began an acoustic duet and stepped into singing lead. My musical journey into songwriting and recording now focuses on acoustic fingerstyle guitar and electric guitar. Currently, my wife Dani accompanies me on African Djembe drum and percussion with blended harmony vocals.

Our motto : "Let's put smiles on faces!"

Ottawa Valley, Ontario, Canada is where I have spent most of my life and continue to make the Rideau Lakes area my home. Peaceful summer nights and loon song paired with winter travel to other parts of the world provide great inspiration for songwriting.

My passion is to play my instruments with unrestricted flare using Fingerstyle, Jazz, Pop and Rock influences to bring a special sound to music rarely duplicated.  My current collection includes an autographed Tommy Emmanuel 2018 CGP Maton "808" acoustic, 2018 Gibson J45 acoustic, Manouche "Django" Gypsy Jazz acoustic, Gold Tone "Paul Beard" Resonator acoustic, 2013 Custom Fender Telecaster and 1989 Gibson Les Paul Custom electric guitars

Thanks to John's encouragement and support and due to many of life's changes an opportunity presented itself for me to harmonize in song and life! 

Keeping the rhythm flowing with percussion and djembe drum speaks to my heart and soul! 

Born in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada, I have lived in Lahr, Germany and the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, Canada. I spent my more formative years living in the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada suburbs. Travel comes naturally to me; learning of other cultures/history, tasting a variety of foods and listening to new music are all joys which feed my life. 

Although very new to playing live music and singing, I have been an avid listener of music my entire life. I partner with John in producing his lyrics and instrumentation to ensure the very best result is captured; being the "idea" person, John is the "creater and follow through" person in this duo!
